I would highly recommend the Buckeye if traveling through Nebraska by way of 2-highway.
My wife and I stayed here during the Great American Eclipse. Barb and Myron were fine hosts. The breakfasts were just perfect to start the day, which included monkey bread on Sunday. Anselmo may no longer be the town it once was and the Buckeye B&B will never be confused with the 5th Avenue Sheraton, but with extremely reasonable rates and nice private rooms it is a good place to stay a night or two for an economical Sandhill journey. My wife reports that Anselmo's water straight from the tap was great. We went to Mass down the street at St. Anselm's (a splendid church) and our prayers were answered--the weather cooperated and we got to see the total eclipse in Nebraska.
The owners recommended the FUBAR bar and grill which for a small town was a good place to eat and visit with some of the residents.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Buckeye Bed and Breakfast in July 2013 while on motorcycle trip. Our group rented the whole house and was very pleased with the hospitality of the owners and the residents of Anselmo. Every room was well kept, very comfortable and reasonably priced. The breakfast was more than enough to get us started in the morning
